United States Route 40 and Pennsylvania Route 381 join for a a very short duplex through Farmington in Fayette County.

A right turn here puts traffic on PA 381 south toward Elliotsville, halfway to the West Virginia border. PA 381 north merges with US 40 east here.

PA 381 splits from US 40 immediately after joining, sharing less than a tenth mile of US 40's roadway. PA 381 heads north toward Ohiopyle and to a duplex with PA 711.
