PA 118 and PA 487 join for a 1 mile duplex through Red Rock in Columbia and Luzerne Counties.
PA 118 and PA 487 travel through the most forrested and gorgeous places in Columbia and Luzerne Counties. The county line passes near the middle of the duplex. These shields are posted at the western split.
The intersection of PA 487 and PA 118 is slightly unusual. The two routes meets at a small angle without any lanes to make the sharper curves easier. PA 487 can bee seen here entering from the right.

Now facing in the opposite direction, PA 487 and PA 118 split. This photo captures one of the most interesting splits in this multiplex collection. PA 487 descends through the forest and curves to the left. PA 118 continues straight ahead for miles, and at least one mile of the road can be seen from here.
Just a mile to the east, PA 487 splits off to the north at a more conventional intersectiona right angle. The Old Tioga Pike heads to the right, never having reached anything named Tioga.
Here is the view from PA 118 eastbound approaching PA 487. A small, local convenience store is situated at the corner on the right.
Just ahead, PA 487 heads to the right on this road to the right, Red Rock Mountain Road. Ricketts Glen State Park, a great scenic gorge with excellent hiking trails, is just 4 miles to the north, and PA 487 is the way to get there. PA 487 later ends at PA 87 in Dushore.
