Old US 220(N-S)/PA 150(N-S) Duplex

US 220 and PA 150 once joined for about 1 mile from just north of Milesburg to I-80 in Centre County. US 220 was relocated east to the State College area in November 2002 upon completion of the Future I-99 freeway to the east. Alternate US 220 now follows the old US 220 routing, including the Alternate US 220/PA 150 duplex.

The US 220/PA 150 duplex began at an interchange with two other duplexes. In this photo, PA 144 southbound had just split off from US 220 (now Alternate US 220) and headed up the ramp on the right, joining PA 150 southbound. PA 150 northbound joined US 220 straight ahead.

From atop the overpass, PA 144/PA 150 splits, and each of those two routes joined US 220 in separate duplexes.

Lots of shields marked the triple split at the interchange. This is the northern split of PA 144/PA 150, was the northern split of US 220/PA 144, and was the southern split of US 220/PA 150.

Facing the other way, PA 150 entered the US 220 mainline below from this onramp.

Back to the mainline at the southern split, the northern split was signed here. A mile to the north, US 220 split off of PA 150 and joined I-80.

In October 2002, one month before the relocation of US 220 and commissioning of Alternate US 220, covered-up Alternate banners were placed on all the US 220 shields.

On the other side of the interchange with I-80, and looking south, US 220 southbound entered from a cloverleaf ramp just past the onramp to I-80 west..

Underneath the I-80 overpasses, US 220 had joined PA 150 and reassurance shields were posted.

Brand new shields replaced those in the previous photo along with a new covered-up Alternate banner.

Atop the overpass, US 220 used to split from I-80.
