MD 129(N-S)/MD 140(N-S) Duplex
Maryland Routes 129 and 140 join for 0.2 miles in northwest Baltimore in Baltimore City.
Northbound on MD 129/Auchentoroly Terrace in Baltimore, a few blocks north of US 1/North Avenue. MD 129 curves to the north and joins onto MD 140/Reisterstown Road north without direct access to MD 140 south. Auchentoroly Terrace is a four-lane divided highway here as it mergest onto the 6-lane, divided Reisterstown Road.
Northbound on MD 129/MD 140/Reisterstown Road. Nowhere in this duplex are there route markers showing the numbered highways, but route markers are posted to the north and south of the duplex for each route.
MD 129 splits off to the north east briefly here at northern split. MD 129 follows Park Heights Avenue to the north, which parallels MD 140 all the way to the city line. Druid Park Drive also meets MD 129 and MD 140 at this intersection.
Street signs at the northern split. The illegible, middle sign reads Park Heights Ave.
Now southbound on MD 129 at the northerm split.
Leading to the northern split, there are two grass medians. The one to the left separates MD 129 and MD 140 northbound traffic, and the one to the right separates MD 140 north from MD 129/MD 140 south.
Southbound on MD 129/MD 140/Reisterstown Road. MD 140 remains on Reisterstown Road to the north and south. The southern split is visible ahead.
The southern split. MD 129 veers off to the left on 4-lane, divided Auchentoroly Terrace. While most north-south routes north of US 1/North Ave. end at US 1, like MD 140, MD 129 continues further south to US 40. Thus MD 140, the former US 140, is orphaned from US 40.
